The fireworks display was first launched concluding year in honour of Patricia McGarry, who passed away in Oct 2020 at the age of 93 after spending her terminal days in Riverview's palliative care unit.

"Not only residents and patients, merely the staff as well appreciated that commemoration of the new year. In a year that was total of things that were missing, [fireworks] was 1 of those normal things people remember from their youth.
